DIRTY ON PURPOSE, 3:30PM, STILLWELL STAGE
Cameron says: It’s nice to finally see a good band getting their due. It seems like Dirty on Purpose have been trudging around the Mercury/Pianos/Northsix circuit for an eternity, seemingly getting nowhere, except deeper and deeper into our hearts. Then, suddenly, a new label (North Street), a new album (Hallelujah Sirens) and a comfy 3:30pm slot at one of the most talked-about festivals in America. Well done, fellas.
DoP are a great band to drink to because they’re feel-good, melodic, and use lots of feedback. Therefore, after pounding screwdrivers in the VIP tent (which I’ve now been informed is a “grandma drink”, and I seriously don’t care), DoP’s Darling Buds-meets-Yo La Tengo stylings lifted me to total bliss. The final song, “Monument” (a longtime fan favorite) completely destroyed everything. This is the sound of a band going to the next level.
