THE ROGERS SISTERS, 2PM, MAIN STAGE
Cameron says: The first “Sisters” band on the bill were the Rogers, who for the life of me still sound like a Brooklyn-scene version of the B-52’s, even though they supposedly deny any influence. The biggest crowd-pleaser of their set was new single “Never Learn to Cry”, while oldie “I Dig a Hole” got more than one concert-goer poppin’-n-lockin’.
Abbey says: The greatest part of the Rogers Sisters is the one member that, unlike the other two, isn’t a Rogers nor a sister. Miyuki Furtado is awesome, no other way about it–but unfortunately had to expend a ton of energy trying to coax some life out of the other two. I was at their record release show (which was packed with adoring fans and members of the music industry) where he had to carry the band too. Dude, if you’re not jazzed about that night then heaven help us all. My friend Amy commented that the even the plastic flowers on the drum kit were wilted (doesn’t that kind of defeat their purpose?), as was their performance. Zing–moving onto the next stage!
