This Is Not London have announced that Justice, that is Gaspard and Xavier, will ‘curate’ a night at the O2 Centre in Greenwich soon – October 25th – which makes them sound like some kind of bespoke artistes that create conceptual electro. Hmmm. Right. The idea is that bands are enlisted to play at this venue, including Armand Van Helden(?!), and they create their perfect night out in London.
Cynicism aside, this concept could prove to be loads of fun. If you’re itching for a fix of the This Is Not London magic sooner than Justice, then Simian Mobile Disco could be the ones to scratch it. They’re on the the bill on October 3rd, supported by Lindstrom (live), Dusty Kid (live), Shit Robot (live), Emperor Machine (live), Riton, Nadia Ksabia, Foamo and Adventures Close To Home. This is also guaranteed to be a night of mindblowing techno as James Ford and Jas Shaw head the line up. Two men, one room equals apocalyptic stuff.
OK, so that was quite dramatic but it will be an excellent night.
Justice have spawned a thousand imitators and and their thrashing, raucous French electro light show is never disappointing. The support is predicable, like a merry family of electro troopers the Ed Banger crew will be present as Busy P, So Me, Dj Mehdi and Durr are all on the line up. Quite. Exciting.
The night will also be a chance to preview their documentary A Cross the Universe, which they’re still looking for contributors for. “We’re currently working on the booklet for our next release, A CROSS THE UNIVERSE (documentary + live) and would like it to be made only of images provided by fans (though if you hate Justice but have good material it’s OK).” Bit of an open invitation really.
Below is a clip from the documentary, to get you in the mood.
