TIME MACHINE
Time machine is Jaysonic, Chomel, and DJ Mekalek. Sometimes Mekalek locks himself in his bedroom studio, where he pushes keys and turns knobs to sculpt the music for Time Machine. Chomel reads and espouses philosophy on matriarchal societies, one-sided optics, and the definition of art. He practices the fashion theory of “You-don’t-have-this-shit!” Jaysonic redefines “budget gourmet”, creating and plating all five food groups, with a dollar and a dream, and some butter and salt.
Someone recently told us about our music that, “If hip-hop had continued to grow and progress over the past several years, instead of stagnating and withering, this is where it would have gone.” It sounds a little cocky to say it about ourselves, but we like to think it’s true. Some people will call it hip-hop, and some people will want to call it “dance rap”, but don’t be confused because we’re not talking about coke and pussy. The people who appreciate it most will probably like it because it’s not that easy to categorize.
The new album is called Life Is Expensive. We have songs about lust, love, bad luck, discovery and motivations but the album is really about the cost of living – both literally and figuratively. We’ll be touring a lot after the release. We’ll most likely hit the US, Japan and Australia, and hopefully UK, Europe and Canada as well. We’ve never been to South America, but that would be amazing.
