Video: Thomas Function Live

I love music that makes people pogo at shows- because NYC is pretty uptight as far as crowd go- so you know the band’s gotta be good. Now when people pogo at Cakeshop that REALLY means something, because even the shortest concert goer can graze the ceiling of said basement venue. Last night the perpetrators of such devil music were none other than Huntsville Alabama’s own Thomas Function. Please note that the band consists of Travis, Joshua, Zachary and Philip- no Thomases in sight. With songs such organ driven garage-y gems as “Peanut Butter and Paranoia” and “Filthy Flowers” they had the crowd bopping along in no time. The live act packs Black Lips-worthy fun, except this way you won’t be leaving the venue covered in chicken feathers and/or the bassist’s spit. Their full length debut, Celebration, is out now on Fat Possum. They’ll be bringing their Southern-friend goodness to Europe in April for gigs.
