Back during the Brooklyn rock revival of the early ’00s, SSION were poised, along with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars and TV on the Radio, to critically and commercially overtake the planet with their subversive brand of post-punk party tracks. Then, frontman Cody Critcheloe left New York, moved to Kansas City, directed a bunch of amazing music videos (for both SSION and various other artists) and transformed SSION from Next Big Things to the most important cult band in America today.
Instead of releasing a new album, the follow-up to 2007’s Fool’s Gold LP is a feature-length movie entitled BOY. As with all things SSION, the film is self-released, writen and directed by Cody, and sure to be a delectable orgy of glitter, gutter glam and exaggerated facial hair. We just got ahold of the trailer and we can’t wait for an NYC screening. For more info, check out SSION’S website.
