So Chromeo, hard at work crafting their 3rd studio album (slated for summer release!), will be taking a break and heading south to Manchester, Tennessee for the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival June 10-13th. YAY. Even better, they’ll be reuniting with Daryl Hall (yes, that Daryl) for a live performance. The guys first jammed on an episode of Live From Daryl’s House, where Dave 1 and P-Thugg looked just as shocked and in awe as we were upon viewing. This summer they’ll play as one, covering both Hall & Oates and Chromeo classics. In the name of smooth, book your tickets now. We can go for that.
The last time ‘SUP covered Bonnaroo, My Morning Jacket played til 5 AM in the pouring rain, Tegan and Sara hopped onstage with Tiesto and José González, and Abz gave Jónsi from Sigur Rós an ice cream sandwich, hijacked a golfcart and discovered a monumental sized Mr. T parade float in the woods. The festival actually owns the land, so there are zero noise curfews to be enforced. This is one of several reasons why Bonnaroo gets voted best fest in the US every year – plus it’s been green since day 1, so hurrah for eco-consciousness. Here is the lineup as announced today (quick round of applause for the KoL, who started out their careers on a side, side side opening stage and are now headlining):
