Gigs in churches never really tread that far from the odd choir rehearsal or bell-ringing, but HALLOWED at St Mary’s Church in Stoke Newington, London proved otherwise with live performances from haunting and eerie band The Haxan Cloak, Sunday Mourning (featuring ‘SUP’ photographer Sanna Charles on drums) mixing up doom, blues, roots and electronica, the heavy harmonies of Time and the melancholic madness of Italian artist Estasy. ‘SUP went down to witness St Mary’s looking like it’s never looked before.
