The oblique, dark arts-obsessed warlocks or rock, Klaxons, have already dropped one single from their much-anticipated sophomore album, Surfing the Void (the eardrum-exploding yet oddly lukewarm “Flashover”), and now they’ve unleashed another tune to whet our appetites. “Echoes” is like a Bizarro World piano ballad; its underscoring catchy melody is tightly wrapped in layer upon layer of savage synth washes, swirling vocals, and doomsday bass lines.

Our LP2 doubts, birthed by the lackluster “Flashover” and this ironic-in-a-bad-way cover art, have been squelched―at least for now. Here’s to hoping the spells the trio placed on us circa 2006 haven’t worn off quite yet!
