Local Brooklyn post-rocky jam-punk disco dance band Professor Murder are opening tonight for Radio 4... From what we've heard of their new record, we think PM might be the most exciting bit of the night.

A funny story - a member of the band was once coined "subway crush" by a friend of mine because we'd always see him on the subway and thought he was cute. One night we were at Bamonte's italian restaurant in Greenpoint and subway crush was eating there with some friends. On our way out we spotted his coat on the coat rack - yeah, the one he always wore on the subway... So we slipped a note in the pocket that said "I love you subway crush".

We then ran into said band member a few weeks later at a party and the whole story came out. He said it was one of the coolest and most flattering things that had ever happened to him. Too bad he was Jewish and my friend was not religious AT ALL.

Anyway - we just thought it was funny that they named this the name of their EP (out on Kanine Records) because we first met them on the subway... I bet they've had some other funny run-ins the train... We like to suspect that Jesse might be looking for that next subway crush...

You should go check them out. The doors are at 8pm so we reckon they'll be on around 8:30 or 9pm. Let us know what ya think...
