FRESH MEET: GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY
WORDS: MARIS BRICKMAN
PHOTO: CHAD WADSWORTH

Introduce yourselves.
Hi, I’m Aaron, I sing and play guitar. Thomas Turner plays drums and electronics and is the gatekeeper of the mystic realm.

Would you consider yourselves a band?

We are not a band, but two friends.

I hear all of your shows are parties. How do you bring the party?

Well the people are the ones that bring the party, we just provide the atmosphere for people to cut loose. Kind of like we got the goods and all we need is a place to cook!

Who are your musical heroes and where do you get inspiration?
I like dramatic entertainers such as Freddy Mercury, Zach De La Rocha and James Brown. The Fire and the Fight is what keeps me going.

OMG - I hear Aaron knows all of MC Hammer’s dance moves - do you have a signature dance move?

All of my moves are signature.

You toured the US and came over to London - how was that?

It was a great experience and we felt that we got some new fans in London.

What are the best and worst things about Texas?

The worst thing is they are building box stores and ugly cheap clone houses all over the hill country but other than that I love Texas.

You both have families, what do they think of your chosen path?

Our families support us 100 percent. We have wonderful women behind us that believe in our music just as much as we do.

What is your favorite instrument?

My soul.

What’s your secret weapon?

The body roll.

Plans for the rest of the year?
Hard work, playing kick ass shows, and cutting the tracks!

Anything else you’d like to add?

These questions where answered by Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory.
