You guys missed one hell of a party on Wednesday, November 14 here in London. Usually reserved for bottle service banker parties or private functions, the beautiful and ornate Grillroom (part of the whole Cafe Royale group) on trendy Regent Street was the perfect location for an unexpected raucous 'SUP party. Red Stripe helped us get the party started with complimentary beers for the first few hours... They went fast and ensured that everyone was in a good mood by the time the acts took the stage.
Artefacts (who get their name from a William S. Burroughs quote) are five young dudes who play straight-up rock reminiscent of Nirvana and Pavement, but manage to contemporize in a way that makes it sound futuristic and sometimes spooky.
Invasion rip things to shreds with their heavy throbbing dirgy metal and screamy soulful vocals. They even wear wizard costumes - AMAZING!
The party carried on until 3am with DJs Mickey Moonlight spinning lots of old school disco and funk and James Ford (of Simian Mobile Disco) spinning loads of SMD tracks and techno tunes that had the fine ladies of *GIRLCORE*, the Arctic Monkeys, Kelly Osbourne and Pop World's Alexa Chung ripping up the dance floor. Isa GT kept it going with her signature blend of baile funk, Colombian electro and current dance faves.
Here are some snaps of the live bands...
