NAPOLEON

After almost five years and hours and hours of determined hard work, the members of Swedish soul ensemble Napoleon feel like we’re grooving and flowing along with the uplifting pace of our music. To describe Napoleon is a pleasant challenge. We take the raisins of several musical cakes such as soul, disco, rock, and pop, mix them, and create something edgy and unique but yet very harmonic and recognizable. The melodies are always in focus and the old Motown and Philly influences are obvious. Beside them, one can hear traces in our music of artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Evelyn King, Dexys Midnight Runners, Morrissey and George Benson. Despite the many different sources of inspiration and big arrangements, we like to make sure there’s a recognizable thread of familiarity for the listener. You can always feel it but won’t always necessarily be able to point out exactly what it is.Today we have 10 regular members, even more when going on stage! Performing live, we are like a human cell whose nucleus is frontman Johan Barrett. Each part of the cell has its own individual skills, tasks and way of working. When added together, the parts in unity work as one strong organism of soul. And this organism always manages to spread the passion and joy from the stage onto the audience. At the moment, we boys and girls of Napoleon are working on finishing our debut album titled Bohemians Won The Series And The Little Guy Joined The Band. After hearing the strength of our first singles, “Cleopatra”and “I Try To Despise The Ugly People (But The Beautiful Ones Keep Turning Me Down)”, it’s easy to see how excited we are to have a full-length disc coming soon for everyone to hear.
